How do Chalice Circles work? Ministry happens in the meetings, which focus on spiritual or religious topics through a process of deep listening and service projects. Topics that may be shared during meetings include: sacred places, perfection, mothers, community, living simply, music, and healing. Groups choose their own order, direction and pace.
Chalice Circles Chalice Circles are a way of engaging our monthly worship themes through deep listening and open-hearted sharing. Chalice Circles are groups of 8-10 committed participants who come together once a month with a trained leader to nurture spiritual growth in community. We do this by listening in three distinct ways.
The Chalice Circle program is part of the congregation’s Small Group Ministry. It provides a structure within which participants minister to each other. Chalice Circles encourage people in their spiritual growth and help them develop relationships of substance and depth. The primary subject of Chalice Circles is the members’ lives.

A typical meeting starts with chalice lighting, opening reading, and a deep check-in that lasts about 50 minutes. The facilitator then introduces a topic for group discussion and concludes the meeting with closing words. Examples of topics include love, loss, forgiveness, and humor. Refreshments may be served during or after the meeting.
