The Long Essay must be submitted to the Themes and Sources Secretary in the History Faculty by 3.00pm on the first Thursday of Lent Full Term. If, due to medical or other grave cause, the student is unable to submit on time, the student’s College must apply to the Secretary of the Examination Access and Mitigation Committee (EAMC) for an extension to the deadline.

Because essays are essentially linear—they offer one idea at a time—they must present their ideas in the order that makes most sense to a reader. Successfully structuring an essay means attending to a reader's logic.
