Some years before their deaths, Professor and Mrs. Colin Turbayne established an International Berkeley Essay Prize competition in cooperation with the philosophy department at the University of Rochester.
The deadline to submit an essay for this award is December 20, 2018, at 5 p.m. EST. Submissions. Please submit the following: (1) your essay in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format; and (2) a statement from a faculty advisor verifying that you are an undergraduate philosophy major or minor. Refereeing will be anonymous; authors should omit all remarks.
Academic competitions for schools and colleges Several colleges and departments of the University of Oxford run competitions which are open to students from schools and colleges. Preparing an entry for one of these competitions is a valuable experience for academically motivated students, so please do encourage your students to enter.
The NCH London Essay Competition is open to students who are currently in their penultimate (second to last) year of secondary education, year 12, and who are interested in studying humanities or social sciences at university. R.A. Butler Politics Prize The R.A. Butler Prize for essays in Politics and International Studies is a competition that can be entered by students in Year 12 or the Lower 6th. Candidates are invited to submit an essay on a topic to be chosen from a list of general questions announced in March each year, and to be submitted in August.
The LSE UPR is pleased to announce its first essay competition, in which we hope to encourage incoming and outgoing year 12 and 13 students to tackle current, complex topics outside of the standard academic curriculum. The UPR is a platform for leading undergraduate research, supporting students in engaging with academic debates of a broadly political nature.
